Mechanical upgrades at Franklin Simpson focused on new chillers, boilers, pumps, and HVAC units at both schools.
In the Middle School the existing split chiller was replaced with a new air-cooled chiller with accompanying piping and insulation. The existing pumps and classroom vertical fan coil units (unit ventilators) were replaced. The packaged air conditioning units serving the gymnasium were replaced with gas heat and all controls were tied into existing campus controller.
In the High School the pumps in the upper mechanical room were replaced, tied into existing campus control system, interlocked for chiller/ boiler/ cooling tower operation, and programmed for lead/ lag operation. In the lower mechanical room, the boiler, piping, and pumps were replaced.
